Josiah Leming, Not America's Next Idol?

This kid was cut and I almost feel, like, Thank God, because he is so much better than American Idol. I googled his name and here he is singing a song he wrote. His lyrics are deeper than your typical pop fluff and he sounds like he could be on the radio tomorrow. His style, too, is one that could be played on a few different style radio stations. I think perhaps that the Idol judges recognized the fact that he will go further by not signing with American Idol. He's too original for AI. See for yourself...

Here's a link to his myspace where songs of his play in the background... utterly amazing...

Is Josiah the kid who was homeless? I was so sad for him last night.

Yeah, it was him. Interesting to see the uproar online. They shouldn't promote the life story of one of the ones they end up cutting. Makes us feel ripped off. Of course we want him to make it!

Ugh.

He is talented (unevenly so, though). I hope he can capitalize on his ten minutes of fame, but he may not have the infrastructure to do so. Here's crossing my fingers.

I tried to link a you tube video of his, but it screwed up my blog... follow the myspace link. Imo, he may have seemed uneven in his auditions but this kid has some mad piano skills. I can't remember which youtube video showcased them best but it was astounding. He can play guitar, piano and drums. He reminds me a lot of Eli. His voice may not be perfect but I love the imperfections and think the more successful rock/singer-songwriters don't have polished sounding voices. Gosh, I am way too passionate about this kid.

Oh I totally agree. He reminded us of Damien Rice or Connor Oburst. I'm going over to his myspace now. How cool that he can sell his stuff directly right while people are excited about him! Great idea!

I'm excited to see where his journey takes him.
